Plot
The Poet X is a young adult novel-in-verse by Elizabeth Acevedo, published in 2018. It tells the story of Xiomara Batista, a fifteen-year-old Afro-Latina girl growing up in Harlem. Xiomara is a talented poet, but she keeps her writing hidden from her family, especially her strict and religious mother.
